Blackberry Storm in a teacup

You’re either a Blackberry or an iPhone fan. Pick a side, because when you’re confused it results in the birth of gadgets like the Blackberry Storm.

When Research-In-Motion first developed their touchscreen Blackberry, the Storm received harsh reviews. In all fairness, the Storm equalled and for some, outpaced the clean aesthetics and beauty of the iPhone even. RIM is back and this time, the Storm 2 looks to be kicking up quite the fury.

Yes, the BlackBerry Storm 2 is a vast improvement over the original they’ve done away with the clunky mechanical screen and gone with capacitive touchscreen that mimics tactile resistance instead. This time, they’ve remembered to throw in WiFi connectivity in addition to 3G access.

Bottomline We feel that ultimately choice of mobile phone falls to personal preferences. Some swear at the limited functions of a particular phone (ahem iPhone) and some swear by it. The Blackberry Storm 2 is an average performer appealing to Blackberry users who would love a touchscreen device. Performance-wise it’s a lot quicker than its predecessor and overall more polished aesthetically. Still, I think Blackberry needs to stick to what they’re good at, you don’t see Apple slapping a qwerty keyboard on an iPhone now do you?
