The Bol d'Or Mirabaud
Swiss watch-maker, Corum, has a long attachment to the maritime world and in particular, the sport of sailing. For the second consecutive year, Corum has associated its name with the Bol d’Or Mirabaud, the world’s largest closed-water regatta, held in Lake Geneva. For this 73rd edition, Corum has introduced a new model to celebrate this partnership, The Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 chrono Bol d’Or Mirabaud.
Bearing the blue and gold event colours, this limited edition model is limited to 30 pieces, two of which will be awarded to the winners of the Bol d’Or, and the Bol de Vermeil. The 48mm diameter model is distinguished by a 12 sided bezel in the same shade, along with nautical pennants that are signature features of the Admiral’s Cup collection. The dial is adorned with a Clous de Paris hobnail motif and gold hour markers.
Corum has chosen to counter the usual practice of a “centro” chronograph by running the minutes and seconds hands on the same axis as the conventional hour and minute’s hands. This has resulted in a pared-down face on the chronograph and naturally also enhances readability.
