Forty three years ago, a group of whisky enthusiasts cracked open a spirit...
At the third installation of “The Essence of Time” masterclasses, Chivas Regal and the Sincere Watch Academy welcomed two special guests. The first was Vartkes Knadjian, CEO of Backes & Strauss, the world’s oldest diamond company. In Singapore as part of an Asian tour, Knadjian introduced August Man readers to the history of Backes & Strauss and took them through the company’s new collection of watches. Committed to its mission to make the ultimate diamond watch, Backes & Strauss had joined forces with the inimitable Franck Muller group to create distinctive models like the Berkeley, Piccadily and Regent, all of which were named in tribute to the brand’s English roots.
The second special guest was Rajan Menon, brand ambassador for Pernod Ricard in Singapore, who is probably the best person with whom to discuss the nuances of whisky. In a passionate presentation on the origins of Chivas Regal whisky, Menon also talked about the unique aspects of Chivas Regal as he believes that to be able to fully appreciate the golden nectar, one needs to understand its heritage. Taking readers into the tasting room, Menon expounded further the particular qualities of Chivas Regal 18 Gold Signature and Chivas Regal Aged 25 Years.
It had been another indulgent evening of premium whisky and luxury watches thanks to Chivas Regal and the Sincere Watch Academy. Menon and Knadjian showed everyone what it is that makes their products unique, and undoubtedly, whether it’s a Backes & Strauss Berkeley festooned with baguette-cut diamonds or the Chivas Regal Aged 25 Years which is as old as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, time is the ultimate ingredient.
