The worst thing about being on a business trip usually isn’t the act of travelling but the idea of living in a stuffy hotel, that you can’t really feel comfortable or relaxed in. Capri by Fraser was designed to be fun, modern and able to provide all the amenities one would typically have at home.
Capri by Fraser and its adjoining mall, Changi City Point, is a new concept that combines everyday life with ultra-urban and high tech services. It offers a full range of hotel services and the convenience of a serviced residence.
The lobby of Capri is a relaxed space that feels like it was inspired by the fun and cool Google offices – clean with pops of colour from the various random pieces of art placed in the area. And in spite of its high ceilings and modern design, it doesn’t feel clinical or stuffy. This casual atmosphere can also be seen from the way the staff are dressed. But that doesn’t mean the service is any less stellar than other hotels.
The rooms at Capri are an interesting blend of boutique hotel design and city hotel functionality. The basic rooms come in a pretty decent size and the adjoining toilets are just what you’d expect from a good hotel – ample space and good products (Capri stocks Malin+Goetz). And despite the random pieces of designer furniture, the room doesn’t give you the usual fear of breaking something.
Being a hotel residence, Capri has cooking facilities in each room. If you’re sick of dining out and want to whip up something, you can head over to the nearby supermarkets to pick up produce and cook up a storm. All this is done in a bid to make its guests feel more at home.
Some of the suites at Capri also open up to large private terraces with outdoor seating and huge square hammocks.
If you need a spot to just laze with your laptop, the Hotspot is a good place for that. A colourful lounge littered with bean bags and contemporary lounge-like seats, it is a good place to chill with a drink while replying to work emails. As a business-inclined hotel, Capri also has meeting facilities to meet every need.
Laundry facilities are available on every floor in common laundry rooms. What makes Capri’s different is the inclusion of activities which you can partake of while waiting for your clothes to go through a cycle. Depending on which floor you’re on, you can play foosball, Wii, Xbox Kinect and iPad, hit the stationary Cicolette bike or knock out sets with the TRX suspension trainer and punching bags.
On the second level of Capri lie its de-stress zones. You can choose to go for a spa treatment, hit the gym or just do a couple of laps in the pool. For the hyper-active, this is a definite must-go. There is also a poolside bar, Ripples, that boasts an array of international beers and cocktails at happy hour prices from 5-10pm.
