My style is preppy and casual, with an “as long as I’m happy, I’m happy” attitude, if that makes sense.
John Clayton moved to Singapore last year for work and found that being away from home didn’t mean he had to give up rugby, his great passion, fast food (his second great passion) or crazy nights out with friends. Or making the occasional rash mistake like shaving his head after a few too many beers.
AM: What do you get up to on the weekends?
JC: Hanging out with friends on the beach, chucking a rugby ball around, cold beers in the cool box and cold cuts on the table.
AM: How would you describe your personal style?
JC: My style is preppy and casual, with an “as long as I’m happy, I’m happy” attitude, if that makes sense.
AM: What are three favourite fashion items?
JC: Jeans, because you can wear them anywhere anytime; brightly coloured watches as they make great little conversation points, and t-shirts... well-fitted while I still can get away with them, and perfect for the weather!
AM: Who, or what, is your muse in life?
JC: My muse... it would have to be Chris Gardner (the guy who was the inspiration behind the film The Pursuit of Happyness). He’s living proof that if you have the ability, passion, real desire and an unbreakable determination (and really good at Rubik’s Cube), nothing, within reason, is unattainable. Just know what you’re good at and go and do it!
AM: Tell us one thing you’re really good at.
JC: Rugby. I’ve played in front of stadium audiences, travelled to foreign countries meeting international stars... just a shame I wasn’t one of them!
AM: The four things that matter to you most are…
JC: First would have to be my family, then followed by my friends, having as much fun as I can, and the fourth has to be burgers!
