Three’s a crowd, but make it four and you have the beginnings of a kickass party. A few weeks ago, August Man and Kronenbourg surprised not one, but four self-confessed “stressed-out” readers to a Kronenbourg Time Out session at Tab.
For two carefree hours, Chris Powell, Kelvin Koh, Edmund Ho, Tan Chun Yih and their invited guests were treated to a night of liquid stress therapy. The 200-strong crowd enjoyed a free flow of Kronenbourg 1664 and Kronenbourg Blanc premium lager from the bar and a selection of delectable snacks from Tab’s kitchen.
"This is great because this is exactly what I enjoy – chilling out with a beer in hand with awesome company," said Chris Powell. The night was welcome respite for the 32-year-old American banker who confessed that his job requires juggling several different projects at once of which priotising is always a challenge. An avid traveller who has lived in Singapore for two and a half years, he loves the weather in this country, but bemoans the lack of "good and cheap" Mexican food. Restaurateurs take note.
Of the four winners, Kelvin Koh was perhaps the most happy-go-lucky, a rather rare trait for a stock trader. His personal tip on how to survive in a stressful industry? "Don't get too attached to money, especially when it comes to trading." If he's not working, the jovial 29-year-old spends his time outdoors taking part in activities like wakeboarding, running and swimming. He also helps out at Food From The Heart, a charity that collects leftover bread from bakeries to distribute to welfare organizations and needy families.
You couldn't miss Tan Chun Yih — or Chun as he's known to his friends — with the eye catching shirt he had on. Dressed to match his personality, the outgoing 27-year-old sales engineer used the chance to catch up with some of his closest friends — or "a bunch of freeloaders" as he cheekily described them. It was a much-deserved break from his job dealing in ship parts where cold calling and constant rejection are part and parcel in his line of work. In his free time, he's also the president of the Wakeboard Association and a fire spinner with Starlight Alchemy. Yep, definitely a man of many talents.
Last and certainly not least was Edmund Ho who thoroughly enjoyed the night, because it was exactly how he likes to relax. He said, "I’m pretty much a drinker and I like bringing people together. I’m a party animal even though I’m married." Hope your wife knows that, Edmund. The 35-year-old IT regional sales manager shared that the most stressful thing about his job is "meeting numbers and customer’s expectations." Well, we certainly believed Kronenbourg Time Out met his expectations. Free Kronenbourg lager, good food and great company, what's not to like?
