The latest buzz on the fashion scene is coming from China's financial center. Louis Vuitton recently opened its first 4-storeyed Maison at Shanghai’s Plaza 66, heralded by the Shanghai Express runway show and a red carpet graced by notable Asian celebrities. Talk about a grand opening indeed.
The mega-store sees not just 4000 square meters worth of exquisite clothing, footwear and leather goods but also a VIP-only fourth level “apartment” that specially caters to the most discerning of clientele. As the man behind the architecture, Peter Marino has described the 16th LV Maison in the world as “more fun, feminine and light”. This whole concept is unprecedented, as revealed by Louis Vuitton CEO Yves Carcelle and we could very well be seeing luxury shopping at its best.
It is models galore at the Shanghai Express Show as audiences witnessed a steam train roll to a stop at The Bund. Models and porters alike alighted and began showcasing LV’s latest fall/winter women’s collection, which included jewel-embellished clothing, luggages and bags. Add a dash of red carpet treatment to the event and we have a star-studded celebration of the brand’s 20th year in China. Film actress Gong Li was in attendance, along with other regional names like Fan Bingbing, Nicky Wu, Hu Bing, and also internationally acclaimed fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
Following the “Art of Travel” themed extravaganza, Louis Vuitton looks set to draw visitors to what seems like a very unique and exclusive shopping experience.
