Shalen De Silva may work at a bank but he’s remarkably nonchalant about his job and is certainly atypical: for one, you don’t usually encounter guys who work in the banking indutry who profess to spend their personal time drawing and playing the ukelele.
AM: What is important to you at this juncture of your life.
SS: I'm chilled out, try not to take life too seriously, yet remain staunchly ambitious, obsessed with cars and their design, and love music. I'm reluctant to call out the world issues I'm passionate about, though. It seems all too easy to put our stamp of fleeting concern and puddle deep knowledge on every complex global issue that lands on our Facebook wall, often to seem intelligent. But I do love my Wikipedia benders, Googling life's pressing questions (like what's the difference between cuttlefish and squid??)! Beyond that, I just care intensely about the meaningful people around me and simply hope to die happy. And world peace of course!
AM: Tell us about the one thing you’re really good at:
SS: Drawing and procrastinating
AM: If you could be a woman for one day, what would you do?
SS: Spend the first 15 minutes playing with my boobs. Then probably try out a pilates class because I’ve always been a little curious about that, but never thought it was acceptable for men to do it. And then I’d dress in my sexiest little black dress and go out to a bar to see how predictable men are, how easy it is to tease them and wrap them around my finger.
