Read our staycation review below to find out more about this boutique hotel.
First impressions: From the outside, it’s easy to mistake Naumi for anything but a hotel. The façade is sleek, almost industrial with metal trellises of greenery running lengthwise partially shielding the ground floor from public eyes. At night, the plush designer furniture and blue ambient lighting of the lobby lounge resembles a sophisticated bar rather than a ho hum hotel lobby. According to the staff, the mistaken impression is a common one. Even the staff are dressed stylishly, togged in black doubled-breasted military-style jackets and slim black trousers; they easily put shabbier guests like myself to shame.
Rooms: Naumi offers six classes of rooms in its 40-room property starting from Premium rooms (31 – 32sqm) to its top-level Luxury Suite (78 – 83sqm). We stayed in the hotel’s Deluxe Suite (50 - 52sqm) which is the same size as the Executive Patio Suite (68 - 72sqm) just without the patio attached. At 50sqm, the Deluxe room boasts a large sitting area, a separate bedroom, a generously-sized bathroom complete with Molton Brown toiletries, a desk and a fully-equipped kitchenette.
Unlike several properties in the boutique class, Naumi hotel doesn’t try to come across overly quirky or gimmicky, and the room feels like it’s designed to be a home away from home. Soothing colour schemes with accents of colour and subtle designer touches give a feeling of utter luxury without being alienating or worse, over the top. And the King-size bed is, well, one of the best hotel beds that I’ve ever slept in. If I could have smuggled in out of there, I would have.
An inspection of one of the two Executive Patio Suites in the hotel revealed a large contained outdoor deck that can comfortably fit 10 people with space left over. The patio suites are located side-by-side, so don’t be surprised to hear another party going on next door.
The little things: Decor aside, if there’s one thing Naumi does well is its attention to detail and any savvy hotel guests will know that it’s the little things that can make or break a stay. Here's what I particularly enjoyed about the stay:
Breakfast: Breakfast is a buffet-style healthy affair in the hotel lobby lounge with a wide selection of fresh juices, cereals, cold cuts and hot dishes including a few Asian options, like steamed tofu. The hotel is so committed to the healthy lifestyle that they even offer a selection of vitamins as part of the buffet to get your day started. Don’t worry, if you’re feeling particularly debaucherous, chilled sparkling wine is also available.
Facilities: If you manage to tear yourself away from the room, on the top floor of the hotel is a small infinity pool that offers beautiful views of the Singapore skyline as well as a roof top pool bar. Even though every room comes with its own yoga mat, the hotel also offers a fitness and yoga room if you need more space to stretch.
Verdict: There’s a reason why Naumi Hotel is so popular with travellers (it’s consistently rated in the top 5 hotels in Singapore on TripAdvisor): it marries boutique-style cool with all the comforts of home. And if you like throwing parties, Naumi's Executive Patio Suite offers all the amenities you need, but without the chore of cleaning up the morning after.
