Striking a balance between work and play is always important. Strapped with a Canon SX260, Ian Horsburgh shows us how he does it with a perfect weekend.

Perfection to me is about achieving balance in life.

Balance consists of three points, 2 extremes and the fulcrum in the middle. The balance between two opposites is always greater than either opposite alone.

One of the biggest influences in my life is my father who has brought me up with the philosophy of “Work hard, play hard”. My aspiration is to achieve balance in life through its highs and its lows.

In order to put this in pictures, I tried to make a record of places where I find my balance. So I’ve catalogued a working Friday followed by a perfect Saturday (lots of photos).
As an avid sailor, I try to get out on the water every weekend and get away from the city to refresh my mind and soul for the week ahead. I find that a bit of escapism and seeing things in different views allow you to keep an open mind.

What better way to go sailing than alongside good friends and another factor that balances out my life, my girlfriend. I’d like to think that relationships are about 2 people coming together, combining their life paradigms, their personalities and finding a balance that brings out the best in both.

As you can see from the photos, I had a beautiful day sailing on the water and stellar evening to top it off. There couldn’t be a better way to finish of a perfect day than to have a barbecue at home – girlfriend, dog and a good steak. What else could a man ask for?
