Equipped with a Canon SX240, Sertac Tasdelen tells us through each of his photographs how we really do live in a perfect universe and how our relationship to the cosmos might be closer than you think.

Firstly I’d like to start with the photograph of what essentially is an empty frame. Materialism has popularized the view that life is some accidental happening, like an irregularity in a chaotic universe. But even though the universe may seem confusing, it lacks nothing and is as perfect as anything could ever be. As a result, your existence could not have been an accident.

Self consciousness is the fundamental element of the cosmos. When true self consciousness is attained, the symbols will literally become visible. For me, it’s the number 22, as seen on the photograph I took of the sidewalk. I see it repetitively and believe it reassures me that I am on the right path.

This next photo that I took of a cloudy sky represents our universe. The universe does not discriminate against anyone. Everything we see around us is divinely perfect and every individual is balanced with the universe responding to each person in its own unique way.

A leaf is perfectly designed to collect the perfect amount of sunlight to its chloroplasts as it performs photosynthesis. Although this single leaf in the photograph I took is a simple product of nature, you cannot find a better solar panel anywhere else.

For my final photograph, a photo taken at a mirror, I’d like to leave a quote from a well known Apple commercial that sums up my philosophy.
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
