Dover Street Market Singapore
Our neighbouring country across the Causeway is all abuzz since last weekend, with the opening of the much anticipated Dover Street Market Singapore at the affluent Dempsey area. Besides the first NikeLab in Southeast Asia, the multi-brand high fashion retailer space also features fashionista favourites, such as COMME des GARÇONS, Craig Green, Thom Browne, JW Anderson, Vetements, Raf Simons, noir kei nimomiya and many, many more.
The newest addition to the Dover Street Market franchise carries the latest Autumn/Winter 2017 collections from the housed brands, as well as exclusive editions available at the retail space, such as the COMME des GARÇONS message wallets – featuring optimistic messages such as “My energy comes from freedom” and “Live free with strong will,” the NikeCraft Mars Yard 2.0 pack by Tom Sachs, the NikeLab x CLOT Air VaporMax Flyknit, and on top of the DSMS T-shirts and bags, special editions from SBTG Surplus Co x Vans, Gucci, Anti Social Social Club x Vans Vault, and Gosha Rubchinskiy.
We have gotten a glimpse of how much scarier Pennywise, The Dancing Clown will be in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s novel through the earlier teaser poster and trailer. Now, the first official trailer has reaffirmed our childhood nightmares with more footage of Bill Skargård terrorising the quiet town of Derry, Maine in 1989, especially a group of outcast kids who are figuring out that the many recent cases of missing children may all be linked.
Sir Anthony Hopkins for Brioni
Whilst many fashion brands are clamouring to feature millennials who are seemingly taking over the world for their latest advertising campaigns, Brioni instead goes the other direction and feature more timeless and iconic personalities that align with their “Tailoring Legends since 1945” reputation.
Brioni may have gone to a different direction when they took on Justin O’Shea as Creative Director last year, by featuring the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Metallica on their campaign, the brand remains above the waters even after O’Shea’s departure six months after with Nina-Maria Nitsche stepping in, and Samuel L Jackson heading the campaign for the Spring ’17 campaign. For this season, who better to represent what Brioni stands for but the legend himself, Sir Anthony Hopkins – the award winning actor who has scarred us aplenty with his 1991 role as Hannibal Lector in The Silence of the Lamb, and his current appearance in the acclaimed Wild West/Sci-fi TV series Westworld?
Dashboard Confessional live in concert in Singapore
Things have been on the quieter side of things for the alternative rock band since their last studio album, Alter The Ending in 2009, mainly because the leading man Chris Carabba has been focusing on his other hands Further Seems Forever and Twin Forks. Fortunately, avid fans of the man and the band may enjoy singing their hearts out word for word to beloved songs like ‘Screaming Infidelities’, ‘Hands Down’, ‘Vindicated’, ‘Belle of the Boulevard’ and more once again.
Dashboard Confessional will drop by Singapore on 9 September, and unlike Carabba’s solo appearance some five years ago in Malaysia, the entire band will be swinging by this instalment’s performance at D’Marquee at Downtown East. Tickets have already started going on sale earlier today.
What Would Diplo Do? trailer
The past and present worlds collide as ‘90s heartthrob James Van Der Beek from Dawson’s Creek makes a proper comeback to TV, playing one of the most celebrated DJs in the EDM world currently. Unlike most biographical films and series, Van Der Beek (who also co-created the show) tackles this new series with a touch of comedy, as he reveals to us through a five-episode series on Viceland what goes on inside the head of the successful music producer, who has worked with the likes of Major Lazer, Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar and Sia.
