WATCH this space, cause we’ve got news for you. Makers of fine Swiss watches, IWC Schaffhausen, is organising a one of a kind IWC Pilot’s Watches Exhibition at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, from 1st to 9th July 2019. Ahead of the official launch, we’ve listed down five things you can do when you drop by the exhibit:

01 View IWC’s most illustrious novelties up close

The upcoming IWC Pilot’s Watches exhibition is your opportunity to study some of IWC Schaffhausen’s legendary aviation timepieces up close. A couple of the highlights that will be on display are the “Special Watch for Pilots” and the Mark 11.

02 Dive into a history lesson with IWC archive pieces

If you’re keen to witness how IWC’s pilot watches have evolved over time, we’ve got news for you: there’ll be some historic timepieces from IWC Schaffhausen’s archives at the exhibit too. The notable pieces include: the very first Big Pilot’s Watch by IWC from 1940; the W.W.W from 1945 (it was specially designed for the British Army); and the Ref. 3705 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph from 1994 (it holds the record for being IWC’s first Pilot’s Watch and is the manufacture’s second watch constructed with high-tech ceramic).

Missed out on the IWC releases from this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva? Fret not, you can get acquainted with IWC’s new Pilot’s Watches for 2019 at the exhibit in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. There will be two sub-lines on display: Spitfire (it’s 100% powered by in-house movements, a testimony to IWC’s mastery in fine watchmaking); and Top Gun (as the name hints, this innovative watch was made using materials like Ceratanium and sand-coloured ceramic).

04 Experience the “Longest Flight”. Well, sort of

The IWC exhibition at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur will offer visitors a chance to be part of its rich aviation history and even catch a glimpse of its lofty aspiration – the “Silver Spitfire – The Longest Flight”. Taking place on 5 August 2019, British pilots Matt Jones and Steve Boultbee Brooks will embark on a 43,000km voyage around the globe on a restored Spitfire plane. Over the course of four months, the pilots will visit 30 countries, stopping over in Japan, China and India for the Asian-leg of their journey. Wondering how this ties back to IWC’s exhibit in Pavilion? In addition to a lounge area and bar that recalls the nostalgia of gentlemen clubs from yesteryear, the exhibit will include a replica of the Spitfire, which is bound to draw – and wow – crowds.

05 Visit the new IWC Schaffhausen Boutique

Big news: the exhibit is also taking place to commemorate IWC Schaffhausen’s very first Malaysian boutique, which opens its doors in partnership with Swiss Watch Gallery. The new store is IWC Schaffhausen’s third boutique in South East Asia, after Bangkok and Manila, to adopt the manufacture’s most recent global boutique design concept. The store is located on the second floor of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The IWC Pilot’s Watches Exhibition takes place from 1 to 9 July 2019, from 10am to 10pm daily, at the Centre Court of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Admission is free.
