American travel writer Tim Cahill once said, “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” This can’t be truer for the August Man A-List campaign. In our quest to showcase the August Man lifestyle through enterprising professionals who embody the magazine’s spirit of style, substance and success in a series of gentlemanly experiences, ranging from food and beverage, grooming and fashion, to timepieces and fitness, The A-List has blossomed into a social platform for new friendships and good-humoured camaraderie.

Since April this year, we have moved forward with this with the launch of the second instalment of the A-List. Developed in partnership with the participating lifestyle brands, the A-List 2017 is pleased to have on board Auchentoshan, Blackbarrett, Biotherm Homme, Breitling and Celebrity Fitness. Held at Glasshouse, Seputeh, the launch party saw the garden-style room transformed into a stylish, cocktail setting, enhanced with mood lighting, a whisky bar by single malt Scotch brand Auchentoshan and an interactive Movish video booth.

Amid indulging their spirit palate, guests were treated to a special whisky presentation by Auchentoshan’s brand ambassador Jamey Merkel who let the audience in on the drinks made especially for the evening and the brand’s acclaimed triple distillation, which leads to its award-winning taste as one of the smoothest and most delicate.

When it came time for the launch, emcee Serena C took the stage with an official welcome address and invited editor-in-chief Rubin Khoo to deliver a brief summary on last year’s A-List campaign, followed by a grand reveal of the 2017 A-Listers.

The eclectic line-up this year is made up of dentist Dr Alan Tan, legal counsel Affendy Ali, flight instructor and group MD of Tom Manas Group captain Imran Tom, environmentalist Dr Renard Siew, baker and entrepreneur of The Accidental Bakers Hazwan Yazit, sales and marketeer Jeremy Hoo, media producer/director Peter Chin, Khue Brothers Holdings executive director Peter Khue, big band Ryöt Jones’ frontman Kyren Thomas, and divisional manager at customer management company Convergys, Edward Teoh.

Following the presentation, guests with the most creative selfie/photo with the hashtag #augustmanalister walked away with prizes from Celebrity Fitness and Biotherm Homme, including a bottle of champagne sponsored by DCODE. The party carried on with DJ Ethan Curzon taking over the evening with his upbeat set.
