John Boyega, acting in an upcoming drama “Naked Singularity” is looking to produce films and series for the African market. The actor who is known for his character Finn from “Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker” penned a deal with Netflix recently.

The British actor will supervise the film production that will mainly focus on East and West Africa with his company, UpperRoom Productions. The company explained, “We will develop film projects based on stories, cast, characters, crew, literary properties, mythology, screenplays and other elements in or around African countries.” It is not new for John Boyega to produce a movie as the film star produced “Pacific Rim: Uprising”, a science-fiction action feature in 2018, in which he played the main character.
John Boyega said, “I am thrilled to partner with Netflix to develop a slate of non-English language feature films focused on African stories, and my team and I are excited to develop original material.” Following that, he added, “I am thrilled to partner with Netflix to develop a slate of non-English language feature films focused on African stories, and my team and I are excited to develop original material.”

Netflix is already taking the initiative to build audiences in the African region. The American Giant is receiving good response with the first African original series “Queen Sono” and the recent release, “Blood and Water”.
Vice-president of International Films at Netflix stated, “Africa has a rich history in storytelling, and for Netflix, this partnership with John and UpperRoom presents an opportunity to further our investment in the continent while bringing unique African stories to our members both in Africa and around the world.”
