The Macallan M Room at Astor Bar in St. Regis Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s first experiential whisky bar offering the finest single malt offerings from The Macallan – including new releases, limited editions and even rare bottlings.

In fact, the M Room in St. Regis KL’s Astor Bar even houses The Macallan Red Collection – a prized and highly coveted collection among whisky connoisseurs priced around RM3 million. After all, it’s among the world’s oldest and rarest whisky collection, which guests of the St. Regis will be privy to viewing. That too so far being the only complete and unrivalled set owned and for public display within the whole of Asia.
The Macallan Red Collection owned by The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, comprises The Macallan 40 Years Old, The Macallan 50 Years Old, The Macallan 60 Years Old, The Macallan 71 Years Old, The Macallan 74 Years Old and The Macallan 78 Years Old; with The Macallan 74 Years Old and The Macallan 78 Years Old being the oldest bottlings ever released in the history of The Macallan.
While the Red Collection is only up for viewing, there are plenty of other expressions to choose from upon entering the exquisitely design Macallan M Room.
Among the options is an exciting The Macallan x Astor Bar Flight Experience, which is only available within The Macallan M Room at Astor Bar.

Guests will have an option of three iconic whisky tasting experiences. The Master Decanter Flight features The Macallan Reflexion, The Macallan No. 6 and The Macallan M Decanter; the Rare Expression Flight offers The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old, The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old and The Macallan Rare Cask; then the Double Cask Range Flight gives you The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old and The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old.
Plus, guests also have the privilege of ordering any choice of (or all) four bespoke cocktails crafted by the mixologists at Astor Bar, using The Macallan Double Cask 15 or 12 Year Old, on top of the exciting bonbons and savoury canapes created especially for the experience.
While the chocolate bonbons make use of quality Valrhona chocolate with flavours inspired by the tasting notes of The Macallan whiskies (like vanilla, raisins, coconut, orange and more) the canapes use luxurious ingredients such as foie gras, fig, tuna, caviar, saffron and more as tribute to the Astor family – founders of the St. Regis.


Then of course, there’s the whole experience to be had when in The Macallan M Room at the Astor Bar. As you take your seat on the plush sofas within the room, experience ‘The Macallan’s Serving Ritual’ for every order placed – perfectly complemented with The Macallan Bar Cart and the iconic Ice Ball Maker.
Prior to the lockdown, the sensorial whisky experience at The Macallan M Room in Astor Bar at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur usually opens to the public daily from 5.00PM till midnight – but it would be best to check with the hotel before planning a visit.
