The familiar British cult and high luxury fashion label, most famous for its gabardine trench coats and iconic plaid design, has just released a handful of images on its new ad campaign featuring Tony Award winning actor and model Eddie Redmayne, and Cara Delevingne (grand daughter of the former English Heritage boss Sir Jocelyn Stevens, who also founded Radio Caroline). Shot by Testino, the campaign is cheeky and lighthearted, centered about the Prorsum collection. However, a less-noticed aspect of the company is its tailoring, inspired by the tradition of Savile Row. The highly constructed, slim cut suits of Burberry have graced runways and red carpets alike, with numerous Hollywood stars such as Hugh Jackman, Andrew Garfield and David Duchovny who have been dressed by the English label. In fact, in certain stores around the world, Burberry actually has in-house tailors who can fit you for a bespoke suit or alter a ready-to-wear suit for you. The personal tailoring service extends to the fairer sex as well. This season’s suits by Christopher Bailey, creative director of Burberry, invoke a sense of casual comfort and cool confidence. Chocolate, olive and denim blue are mixed in with soft grey in the range, and a thoroughly dandyish eggplant purple that is the most flamboyant of the looks. The commanding presence of Burberry’s suits are paired with casual accessories such as leather portfolios and a stunning brown crocodile leather briefcase that instantly stirs lust in our hearts. The slim-cut silhouette is highly emphasised, and hints at Burberry’s punk rock status, albeit in a formal tone. Check out the Burberry Tailoring collection below.
