Sicily has invaded the runways of Milan at the Dolce & Gabbana show. False pretences left the show as real men walked the runways, dressed as they would be in everyday life rather than the presentation looks that many labels create in their fashion shows. Dolce & Gabbana were refreshing honest, portraying Sicily as we see it, with bright colours, music, cropped trousers and sandals that paid tribute to the Sicilians.

The vision of the region was evident in the setup and the choice of people on the runways, who were clearly not professional models – some of them unfortunately tripping up a little, but none too serious. This was not an attempt to project a new image, but rather a commentary on fashion which is filled with blogs of elegant people on the streets and their own creative take on what fashion means to them. Thanks to the internet and the smart mobile, elegance has crossed all boundaries. Perfect for Singapore weather, given the similar climates the two regions share, the main focus was on the T-shirt, filled with Sicilian prints, and embellished with the ample use of materials and prints. Cropped pants and loose-fitting shirts tucked in at the high waist are also prominent in the collection.
