Your latest edition of new restaurants and cafes in KL to visit for September 2020.

Bad news — we’re still not allowed to travel out of the country just yet. Good news though, there’s plenty to do in the Klang Valley with the opening of some new restaurants and cafes to try out. This month’s edition of new restaurants and cafes in KL sees more casual fine dining options, Japanese fusion places, and a touch of exquisite pastries to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours.

It’s time to start planning your social calendar for the month of September 2020 with these new restaurants to try. After all, we’re a nation of foodies — any occasion is a chance to eat.

Japanese with a fusion of all other cuisines, Yugo in Desa Sri Hartamas is definitely one to look out for. It combines the basics of much-loved Japanese dishes with other influences, from Italian to Mexican and even Malaysian. Helmed by executive chef Niezam, all dishes are pork-free and won’t break the bank. Among the dishes that caught our eyes include the Kampachi uni jalapeno and Somen with premium sashimi and kinpaku.

Address: 2, Ground Floor, Jalan 27/70a, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur

2. The swimming cow

Swimming Cow is the name and sous vide is their game. Describing their restaurant as a “sous vide dining experience”, you can expect most of their mains, from steak to chicken and also fish to be prepared using a sous vide. Of course, to really test their technique, you should try the Australian wagyu cut, which is first cooked in a sous vide and then finished by torching the outer layer to crisp perfection. There are also other ways to enjoy the sous vide technique, like the restaurant’s sous vide chicken thigh tacos with guacamole and sriracha aioli.

Address: No.29, Jalan SS20/11, Damansara Kim, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

If you thought that even casual fine dining restaurants require you to splash out a fair bit, let Loo Loo Casual Dining prove you wrong. Helmed by a chef with plenty of experience abroad making modern European cuisine, the dishes at this restaurant are exceptional and made with familiar, everyday ingredients. The only difference? You won’t break the bank dining here.

Sushi, spice, and everything nice. Oh, and did we mention that they’re vegetarian too? That’s right, the latest addition to Mont Kiara’s F&B scene is a vegetarian restaurant that serves both Japanese and Thai cuisine. Expect your sushi rolls to come in a vegetarian option, as well as classic Thai dishes including the Pad Thai.

Pizza is always a good idea, and the Klang Valley will always welcome a new addition to its scene — especially if it’s wood-fired pizza. You can’t go wrong with classic flavours including pepperoni and Margherita, but if you’re feeling adventurous, the Black Angus Bulgogi definitely piques our interest.

They may call themselves a patisserie, but FASO Patisserie focuses on viennoiserie, specifically baked goods such as croissants, pain au raisins, and brioche. But of course, the selection here is so great that you’ll be spoiled for choices picking between choux pastries, petit cakes, and even savoury pastry options.
