E3 is an annual trade fair held in LA that gamers all over the world look forward to. It’s where game publishers gather to sell (but sometimes, oversell) their upcoming titles. This year’s E3 took place from 14th to 16th June and saw a huge number of notable titles being introduced. Considering it would be absurd to go through each and every one of these games, we’ve compiled of the best ones that you can look forward to.
Best Throwback Title: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Arguably the biggest title at E3, fans had to wait in line for hours just to try out the upcoming edition of this beloved game. Zelda fans out there will be glad to know this new title looks vastly different from previous iterations. It’s open-world so you’ll be free to roam the beautiful landscape for yourself. Breath of the Wild will also have certain survival features that players need to consider such as weapon-crafting and clothing.

Best First-Person Shooter: Battlefield 1
Battlefield 1, as its name suggests, is a first-person shooter set during World War 1. That being said, if you have a thing for old-school warfare (think bolt-action rifles, bi-plane aircraft, and even horses), this is definitely a game you’ll want to get your hands on. Set against other first-person shooters, the Battlefield series has always stood out because of its outstanding gameplay, whether you’re flying a fighter jet, driving a tank or even riding an ATV. Here’s hoping that trend will continue with this update.

Best Hack and Slash Title: God of War
Everyone’s favourite rage-filled God of War and Death, Kratos, is back for another edition of the iconic hack and slash game series. This time, interestingly enough, we see a softer side of him. The gameplay trailer shows him teaching his son to hunt. While we still see his hot-headedness, Kratos is visibly trying to be patient with him. Kratos is even given a more human-like appearance in this game. The fight mechanics shown in the video below is a promising sign that it has been improved from God of War: Ascension.

Best Sports Game: FIFA 17
Most people who don’t play the FIFA series are sceptical about the timely updates the series receives. “How much can a football video game change?” Well, this year the series is about to get a major update. A new career mode, called The Journey, will allow gamers to experience what it is like to live life as a rising star- both on and off the pitch. Decisions that you make will ultimately affect the path your player takes. While it might take some focus off the football gameplay, we have to admit this is really exciting stuff.

Best Fighting Game: Injustice 2
Injustice 2 is the update of the fighting game featuring heroes and villains from the DC Comics universe. The interesting thing about this iteration is the advent of a new gear system. After a battle, players stand to receive special gear from loot drops. These items possess stats that can modify a character’s stats (defence, attack, special etc.) For those worried about how this will affect multiplayer versus modes, Ed Boon (NetherRealm founder) has assured the public that there will be matchmaking options to separate geared and non-geared characters. Check out the gameplay below.
