What are some of the things you are passionate about?
Growing up, I have spent most of my time in Petaling Street; a place that is not only rich in historical significance, but also well known for its food and culture. The early exposure to these elements cultivated a thriving passion for food culture ever since.
What drives you to achieve the things that are important to you?
The constant reminder of my purpose in life is what keeps me motivated. A passion without purpose is simply unsustainable. Having a constant realisation of my many roles and of those who are placed under my care reminds me of my responsibilities in life, and it gives me a different perspective to the way I live.
What is your philosophy in life?
‘Living the life as a steward’. When we came to life, we were born with nothing. Therefore, what right do we have to claim ownership over the many things that we currently have? We are merely managers with the given responsibility of tending everything that has been entrusted to us to the best of our abilities. How do you define success? Success is not a storm-free cruise, but a storm-proof voyage. The understanding that I will be challenged but yet have the courage to overcome my fears. The ability to endure and persevere through the infliction of scars and wounds by failures and disappointments. That at the end of this journey of mine, I will look back in my battered body, and tell myself, “Wow, what a ride!”, with no regrets and still willing to go through it all over again.

A gentleman is one who is refined but compassionate, wise but humble, and outspoken but considerate.
Describe your sense of style.
It is hard to believe that I’ve once owned a wardrobe that resembled a thrift store! Now, I have found comfort settling on minimal pieces of solid block colours such as navy, black
and white with several aspirational outliers.

In 2014, our company underwent a major restructuring process to streamline and give structure to our business. As we established our holding company, we simultaneously faced the overture of new laws, a major rehiring process, a need for a thorough rebranding exercise, and the realignment of our working cultures and values. Three years down the road, I was deeply moved by the evaluations of our company by our fellow colleagues, as they echoed the sentiment of our conducive working environment and that it felt like family.
