Drawing on all the great elements that made the 1962 original a roaring success, the new Captain Cook collection brings all of Rado’s milestone moments together for maximum impact.
Packed with six decades of rich heritage, the new Rado Captain Cook collection reinvigorates an iconic Rado name, and unites the brand’s biggest and best milestones to create a collection that is guaranteed to suit modern proportions.
Shapes have always been an important element for Rado. For the year’s Captain Cook collection, the sword-and-arrow hands, the wedge-shaped luminescent indexes, and curved dial form the basis of the model, and are as distinctive as they are authentic.
Alongside the typical Rado colours of green, blue and brown first introduced by Rado in the True collection (2016), the original concave, turning dial and bezel now benefit from a durable high-tech ceramic bezel inlay in glossy black. The colour black’s been retained in commemoration of its first feature on the groundbreaking Integral model from 1986.
The sapphire crystal, first introduced on the Diastar 1 in 1962 and currently a feature in all Rado watches, replaces acrylic glass, adding scratch resistance while retaining a bubble-effect box shape. The famous moving anchor symbol, which represents quality and precision as brand hallmarks since 1962, comes with a new ‘60s-inspired ruby background, its movement dominated by the more powerful Swiss-made, high-quality C07 movement with an extended 80-hour power reserve.
