Celebrating Malaysia’s 60th Merdeka Day this 31 August 2017, Hublot will be releasing a special edition of its highly popular Big Bang watch. The Hublot Big Bang “Merdeka” is limited to 60 pieces and exclusive to the Malaysian market.
“We are honoured to celebrate such a significant milestone with Malaysia. With the use of our latest innovative material—blue ceramic. The Hublot Big Bang ‘Merdeka’ is a true embodiment of the Art of Fusion,” says Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe.
Showcasing plenty of Malaysian spirit, the design takes cues from our national flag, the Jalur Gemilang. Accompanying the timepiece is a blue alligator strap adorned with gold stitches, paying tribute to the blue canton bearing a crescent and the 14-point star known as the Federal Star on the Malaysia’s national flag.
On the dial is the visible number 60, coloured in gold, referencing Malaysia’s 60th Merdeka celebration.
Other features include a date display in between the four and five o’clock positions, a 60-second counter, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter.
Meanwhile, the watch runs on 42 hours of power reserve thanks to its self-winding calibre Hublot HUB4100. The case is made of blue micro-blasted ceramic and is 44mm in diameter. While turning it over will reveal engraving of “special edition” as well as “merdeka + 60 pieces”.
The Hublot Big Bang “Merdeka” timepiece will be available at Hublot Boutique Suria KLCC and The Hour Glass boutiques nationwide.
