A private island owned by the Sultan of Johor just off the Mersing coast, Rawa Island attracts few visitors each year, with just two resorts on the entire island – Alangs Rawa Resort and Rawa Island Resort.
This is the ideal place for unwinding on an island of peace and tranquillity. Other activities on the island include diving and snorkelling for some amazing views of the coral reefs.

Rebak Island, Terrenganu
Rebak Island is unfamiliar to many but it is the sole exclusive resort on the 390-acre island that gives it away – Vivanta by Taj. Its one of the most secluded and romantic places you can find in Malaysia, with a fully equipped marina to boot. The five-star resort has plenty to offer, but you're free to soak up the vitamin D, take a swim in its azure waters or simply enjoy the view of the bay.

Tengah Island, Johor
Another island with a five-star resort is Tengah Island, a mostly uninhabited one, save for the Batu Batu Resort. It is actually located right in between the town of Mersing, Johor and Rawa Island. The selling point — this place is home to eight private beaches and a 3km stretch of pure white sand right at the front of the resort.
Speaking of the resort, it only has one and two bedroom villas in limited quantities so if you do visit, you're in for a truly undisturbed vacay.

Pom Pom Island, Semporna, Sabah
Pom Pom Island is so small, it takes only an hour to explore the entire island. However, getting there is what makes it more challenging. After a 45-minute boat ride from Semporna, you'll be greeted by invitingly pristine waters and postcard-picturesque beaches.
If you itch for a sailor's exploration, the five-star Pom Pom Island Resort offers a yachting service, which will ferry you around the neighbouring islands.

Manukan Island, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Manukan Island is the second largest island in Malaysia’s first national marine park. The view at the Manukan Island Resort makes for the perfect backdrop for honeymoons romancing with that special someone. Its turquoise waters paired with coral white beaches are also clear as ever, as if the island has been truly left untouched.
