Models don’t have it easy — that’s what the 12 A-Lister finalists found out one sweltering weekend at the Citroën Pod on Alexandra Road, the location of their second photo shoot as part of the August Man A-Listers campaign. As lovely as it is to be prepped, preened and fussed over by a team of stylists and our lovely fashion director, Janie Cai, their moment of reckoning arrived too quickly when placed in front of a camera. This was just their second photo shoot after all and we could only imagine the thoughts that ran through their minds: Is my face paralysed with fear? Are my fingers relaxed or curled up with tension? Does my smile look effortless or does it border on Joker-like derangement? So on, and so forth.
In a situation like this it’s too easy for a guy to be crippled by self-consciousness, which is practically a given when faced with a photographer and a team of people hoping that you’re going to nail that killer shot quickly, because there are 11 others waiting to do the same. But these 12 gentlemen stepped up as you will witness in the photos below. Perhaps it was the gorgeous wardrobe provided by Hugo Boss, DSquared2, Y-3 and Bape that made them feel like a star. Or the weight of a Corum luxury timepiece on their wrist.
Or perhaps, we really just know how to pick ’em.
