VR Zone Shinjuku

Step into the new era of video gaming with the upcoming virtual reality arcade over at the Hyper-Reality Entertainment Expo in Tokyo, Japan. Thanks to the people over at Bandai Namco, from 14 July onwards, VR Zone Shinjuku will be open to the public, where video game aficionados can immerse themselves – literally, in more 15 of the VR games available on site, such as Dragon Ball, Mario Kart, Gundam and Ghost in the Shell. Already said to be the largest VR entertainment facility in Japan, all games at VR Zone Shinjuku will be carried out via the HTC Vive headsets with complementing arcade-style chairs. An all-day pass plus access to four VR activities are priced at ¥4,400 (approximately RM170), and you can get yours here.

Ataribox re-release announcement

Speaking of video games, while one pioneer goes to the extreme towards the future, another goes the other direction. If you are from the generation that grew up with the Atari console system, rejoice! Because they have recently announced that they are getting back in the game (no pun intended), with a new game console release after close to 25 years, since the launch of the Atari Jaguar, which didn’t fair well in the market back in 1993. Not much has been mentioned about the re-release just yet, ie. release date and cost, but they have mentioned that they will be working on the original Ataribox with the iconic wood panelling.

adidas Originals campus shoes

The Campus enjoyed much of the limelight in the 1980s, when it debuted off the basketball courts in a bold palette of burgundy and green, and became quick favourites to the emerging downtown creative scene. adidas Originals revisit the originally raw, authentic and straightforward classic silhouette with classic colourways of new relevance. The new Campus comes in a premium suede construction across the upper, with a contrast leather three-stripes and heel tab detailing. The tonal stitching provides structure and definition, as the essential CAMPUS branding completes the rebirth of the classic.

Volkswagen I.D Buzz

When Volkswagen revealed the concept for an electric version of the iconic Microbus at the North American International Auto Show earlier this year, it has created quite a – shall we say – buzz. This week, the head honchos have announced that they will, in fact, be going ahead with the production of the concept car.

Taking cues from the Type 2 Microbus of yesteryear, the retro design will be given a futuristic overhaul, featuring 22-inch wheels and wraparound LED headlights, with automated multi-adjustable eight-seaters. The ID Buzz will run on an MEB electric-car architecture, where the batteries and motors are kept beneath the floor, (which also means more lounge space in the car), with a start up speed of 0-62mph in five seconds, and a charging technology that enables up to 80% boost in 30 minutes.

Man Booker International Prize 2017 winner

The Booker Prize Foundation recently crowned the year’s Man Booker International Prize winner: A Horse Walks Into a Bar by David Grossman, translated by Jessica Cohen. The literary award that complements the main Man Booker Prize, which will only announce their winner on 17 October, is an extension in the foundation’s support to highlight not only publications in foreign languages, but also the work of the translators as well.

As the title hinted, the narration of the book takes place in a stand-up comedy show in Israel, where instead of a night of laughs, the audience instead witnessed a comedian falling apart onstage, one of them the narrator Avishai Lazar, who is also a long lost childhood friend of the comedian. Veteran stand-up comedian, Dovaleh Greenstein exposes his most intimate and personal side to the public, which includes a defining choice he has to make between two people dearest to him.

Okja on Netflix

The much anticipated Cannes Film Festival official selection of the year will finally hit Netflix on 28 June, next Wednesday. Starring a stellar line up of Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano and Lily Collins, spearheaded by Bong Joon-ho of Snowpiercer fame, Okja is an oversized hippopotamus of sorts belonging to Mija (played by Ahn Seo-hyun), whose life is very much endangered when the CEO of a multi-national company (played by Tilda Swinton) has set her eyes on it for profit.
