Singapore Night Festival? Been there. Formula 1 night race? Done that. If you think October is getting mundane and you’re dying to head elsewhere, hold your horses and check out Voilah! France Singapore Festival.
Held from 3 October to 17 November, the festival presents a vast spectrum of more than 50 programmes that span various fields including food, music, art, and culture.
Throughout October, Francophiles can immerse themselves in French food culture, starting with a cheese workshop with Meilleur Ouvrier de France at the Devan Nair Institute. Various French dishes from escargots to foie gras to boeuf bourguignon will also make appearances at several participating restaurants like Brasserie Gavroche. Finish things off in the evening with a chocolate dessert, Voilah Le Chocolat! at Café for All, and two wine-tasting sessions at the Pernod Ricard Bar and FOC Sentosa.
Since Voilah! France Singapore Festival is not just an event of its own, be sure to check out the 35th edition of the Singapore French Film Festival and Singapore Writers’ Festival 2019, A Language of Our Own. So it’s not just food and exhibitions that festival-goers can enjoy, but film screenings and literary works that will take place at various locations.
If you’re looking for music, the event will be opened by internationally celebrated master conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, French cellist Gautier Capuçon, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Be sure to keep an eye on Echoa by Arcosm too. It’s a light-hearted performance that blends the elements of dance and music.
