Come March, Marina Bay is poised to shine with i Light making a return for its sixth edition.

Created with environmentally-friendly or energy-saving lighting, the installations highlight the importance of sustainability and reinforce Marina Bay’s position as a sustainable precinct.

This year’s festival will see 22 installations by artists from Singapore, including Starlight and Light Play by students from NTU’s School of Art. i Light will also feature installations by artists from 12 other countries around the world.

For the second year running, the floating platform will be transformed into an “Art-Zoo” of giant inflatable animals, with a brand new character line-up – including the six storey tall giant ape erected at Marina Bay back in January.

Billed as the largest of its kind, the locally founded inflatable playground ventured out of Singapore for the first time last year, to Kaoshiung, Taiwan.

Gastrobeats, which debuted in i Light Marina Bay last year, will now be housed at the Prudential Marina Bay Carnival – home to rollercoaster rides, game stalls and a ton of food like churros, chendol and chicken rice bowls. Presenting a neon playground in the carnival fairgrounds, you can look forward to LED-lit hula hoop stations, and glow in the dark renditions of traditional games with the likes of hopscotch, chess, beer pong, and even paintball for the more adventurous souls.

Gastrobeats will also partner social enterprise Terra SG in Sustainablity Sundays at Terra Village to emphasise the importance on sustainability. Gathering a community of crafters, designers and upcyclists, you can shop for earth-friendly products and participate in eco-craft workshops. This will be held alongside weekly mass workouts and performances by local music talents.

The fifth edition of the Illumi Fest Run will take place on 31 March, in conjuction with the sustainable light arts festival. Runners will be sprayed with neon water along the way, making the ultraviolet zones perfect for snapping selfies. To celebrate completing the run, you can take part in the dancing party at Ilumi Fest Village Party Box, and have a go on the Illumi slide.

i Light Marina Bay will be open at Marina Bay Waterfront between 9 March to 1 April 2018. from 7:30pm to 11pm. Admission is free. Art-Zoo Inflatable Park opens from 5pm to 10pm on weekdays, and 3pm to 10pm on weekends and school holidays. More information here.
