So here’s the thing. You take your date to a nice restaurant for Valentine’s, you guys have a wonderful time, and she takes you up on your offer of adjourning to yours for a couple of cocktails. After a killer martini and some playful banter about celebrity crushes, things start to get a little heated. You decide to put on some music to help the mood, but what do you play? Here’s the tricky bit. The right playlist will elevate the experience but the wrong one could kill the entire mood, and quite possibly, your chances of getting laid. Here at Augustman, we don’t claim to be experts, but here are a few tried and tested songs from our own lists. Just to be clear, they won’t all go well into a single playlist. Pick a song that seems most appropriate to you, and use that to search for something similar.
1) For The Passionate Lover: Massive Attack – Paradise Circus
Like a moth (or fly in this case) to a flame, this song is about a deep and fiery attraction. One that almost feels sinful. If you feel that way about your date, this song should go into the playlist.
2) For The Laid Back Lover: Inner Circle – Sweat
Our senior art director swears by this track. “It has a great beat, and don’t get me started on the lyrics”, he says. It’s true though. This song has a beat that’ll make you want to “push it, push it some more”.
3) For The Animalistic Lover: Closer – Nine Inch Nails
This song is for the type of woman who, as Ludacris so astutely puts it, is a “lady in the street but a freak in the bed”. If you chance upon someone like this then kudos to you. You’re in for a helluva night.
4) For The Hasty Lover: DragonForce – Through the Fire and Flames
This one will probably raise a few eyebrows, but we’ve asked around, and apparently some people do think the tempo of this song is appropriate for sex. We’re told by an anonymous source that it is most suited for a sex act called The Jackhammer. We’ll leave you to Google that one for yourself.
5) For The Soulful Lover: Nothing Even Matters – Ms. Lauryn Hill & D’Angelo
You can always count on Ms. Lauryn Hill for some good ol’ fashioned sexy R&B tunes. This particularly romantic one is about lovers declaring nothing matters but their love for each other. If lyrics like that don’t work, we don’t know what will. D’angelo also has a few steamy tracks. We suggest ‘Really Love’ for it’s sultry Spanish intro.
