9 Years and Counting
This year marks the 9th anniversary of AUGUSTMAN, and we decided that it was time to go all out and throw a proper party for everyone to enjoy. There were plenty of things to celebrate. First off was the launch of a newly revamped AUGUSTMAN website, as well as the introduction of the online platform to Malaysia. Second was marking the close of the first season of The A-LIST, a continuation and evolution of the A-Listers campaign we started in 2010. Finally, it was our 110th issue, a chance to celebrate in style. Our partners in crime for the evening was Auchentoshan whisky, and brand ambassador Jamey Merkel concocted up great drinks for the evening for us, including a classic, the Blood & Sand. The campaign started this year with a summer partnership with fashion retailer TANGS, for their summer fashion campaign and carrying on to an in-store party. Our host was once again the gorgeous Anita Kapoor

Introducing Sukki
The highlight of the evening was a young lady who shuttles her time between Singapore and London. Sukki Singapora is an agent provocateur (in the best way possible) who challenged the status quo with the authorities in Singapore, finally convincing them to permit a public performance of the art of burlesque this year at Boudoire Noire during the Singapore F1 GP weekend. She returned to Singapore to perform a short routine for us at the newly opened Rakes club, a very cool nightspot location at the basement of ChijmesSukki Singapora

Social Activism
Apart from the fun and games, we were also dedicating our time and part of the program to a cause that we have undertaken this year, The Foodbank Singapore. The IPC-approved non-profit organisation works to reduce food wastage and provide food to the needy in Singapore, to those who don’t have food security. In Singapore, that amounts to 10% of the population, and nearly 1/3rd of all food within the country. 

Luxe Catering, our partners for the evening, worked with Foodbank to create a yummy menu based on their resources that they typically collect, and guests were encourage to donate to the cause. At the same time, we’d like to encourage everyone to donate via our campaign, on GiveAsia. This is to raise a fresh food truck to enable The Foodbank to deliver produce to various locations around Singapore.

AUGUSTMAN × Breitling
The most important segment, however, was to celebrate the success of our first cross-country campaign with one of the A-LIST sponsors of the year, Breitling. This year, 13 A-Listers from various years came together to head up to Sepang, where we spent some time with Breitling and their partners Bentley at the GT Asia competition. Managing director Alexander Melchers and general manager Alvin Soon of Breitling SEA were there to welcome the guys, where they discovered more about the brand’s extensive range of products and why they are rated highly precise among watch brands in the world. We also organised two competitions, one on a go-kart track in an hour-long race, and a social media engagement challenge where the guys put up their weekend experience to share with their friends on Facebook and Instagram. See more about the experience here. The winner of the social media contest was Ian Horsburgh, and his winning entry is shown below. He won for himself a limited edition Breitling plane model and pilot, owned by aerobatic pilot David Martin. 

Alvin Soon, general manager of Breitling in Southeast Asia, found the event “a great engaging experience for both Breitling and the A-listers whereby the competition got real with everyone trying to overtake one another to the finishing line at the Sepang GoKart track. This was also the first time that Breitling has worked with AUGUSTMAN on a complete race experience from the GoKart track to witnessing the actual GT race which the makes the overall experience very memorable, definitely raising the tempo to the next level.”
