Seventeen years. That’s a long time for any event to be running. Ever since Richie Hawtin headlined the first edition of ZoukOut back in 2000, the music festival has grown in leaps and bounds. We’ve seen dance music juggernauts such as Armin van Buuren and Tiesto grace the decks in past years, and even recently welcomed hip hop stars Rich Chigga and Higher Brothers to bless the microphone.
About 40,000 punters over two days danced on the sands of Sentosa for ZoukOut 2017. Besides tunes, the organiser also brought in other experiences including Singapore’s first bungee jump tower and a vertical skywalk.
Of course, the bread and butter of any dance festival is the music and more importantly, the people. AUGUSTMAN sent a crew (@studiodaydream) down to lens the revellers of Zoukout 2017 and asked them for the song that best encapsulated their year.

“I’m pretty sure something must have been lost in translation because my mandarin is severely lacking. After some hushed discussion and giggles, the girls answered collectively, ‘HAPPY NEW YEAR’, (and I’m paraphrasing here but..) because let’s have a good 2018! True that.” – @chloecheng
