Talent Manager at Faces Talent Management
Recently turned 30, Nicholas Tjoa has decided he needs to prioritise travelling. He runs Faces Talent Management, and his job occupies most of his time, but he’s determined to take frequent trips around the region to do some soul searching as well as to learn about different cultures.
What would you say is your biggest drive?
Myself, actually. I’m not a perfectionist, but I demand a lot from myself. I always feel like I can do better.
What do you think defines a gentleman?
I think manners make a man. It’s sorely lacking in our society today. Secondly, the way a man treats a lady. Finally, the way he dresses. Unfortunately we’re not blessed with great weather, but it does not excuse not making a decent effort.
What scientific breakthrough would have the biggest impact on humanity?
Sustainable food sources. With the growing population and our eating habits, our current food sources are far from sustainable, so we’re going to run into bigger issues in time to come. I know many restaurants are striving to keep food wastage to a minimum but that’s not enough. We need to find a solution to this, whether it’s the cloning of animals or something else.
How do you contribute back to society?
I'd like to help the next generation. I know some people might scoff because they think I'm too young, but it's something I'm very passionate about. At my job, I'm lucky enough to be able to share my experiences and coach the younger talents. I'm hoping to be able to do more coaching at schools in the future.
