Created in 1944 to evoke the safety and reliability of the robust and slender Europa Point lighthouse that watches over the Gibraltar Strait – the symbol of a structure guiding mankind in its conquest of the seas, the Mido Ocean Star Diver 600 expands the iconic Ocean Star collection on its 75th anniversary, by incorporating a distillation of watchmaking innovations at its very heart.
Designed expressly for exploring the seabed, the Ocean Star Chronometer 600 is a most superlative timepiece diving enthusiasts may find worthy of their ambitions. Fitted with the Calibre 80 Si, a COSC-certified chronometer movement of the latest generation with a silicon balance-spring, it combines an exceptional autonomy of up to 80 hours of power reserve extraordinary accuracy and shock resistance.
It is also water-resistant to a pressure of 60 bar (600m/1,968ft), and incorporates a helium valve; whereas a small incision located on the side of the case at 9 o’clock releases any excess water trapped inside the rotating bezel mechanism to prevent corrosion.
With a lacquered black dial at the front, and the symbol of the Ocean Star collection, a polished starfish in relief on the caseback, the Ocean Star Chronometer 600 features indexes of its superb and the satin-finished and diamond-cut hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova Grade X – an innovation that enables the diving time to be read with extreme accuracy, whatever the visibility conditions.
The 43.5mm diameter satin-finished and polished steel case is treated with black DLC, a cutting-edge procedure that endows it with a unique colour, complementing the black ceramic ring, the unidirectional rotating bezel, and the black rubber strap with a pin buckle.
The Mido Ocean Star Chronometer 600 is also available in an all-steel version with a graduated blue dial.
