Few luxury fashion houses have the same kind of heritage that Gucci does, with an iconic emblem which people around the world instantly recognise. It’s made good since the end of the early 19th Century and constantly updates its line of shoes, bags, clothes and accessories without eschewing current trends, which makes the Italian label a thoughtful blend of classic patterns and modern designs.

The Gucci Bamboo bag, paraded on the arms of influential celebrities like Ingrid Bergman and Vanessa Redgrave, has purveyed bag lovers with an emblem of timelessness since 1947. And it all started with a clever twist of a Japanese-imported bamboo cane, heated and bent into a semi-circle and affixed as a decorative handle on structured pigskin.

What we’re really looking forward to now is the first men’s Bamboo bag which has been created in line with the latest Fall Winter 2011 collection. They’re a set of brilliant masculine briefcases and we can’t be quicker to give these our hot stamp of approval. Justice finally prevails as the Bamboo bag is not just exclusive to women, and we don’t have to settle for what looks like tiny bamboo handles on our loafers any longer.

The brown and black Gucci Bamboo bags are retailing at $5950 and $6490 respectively in all Gucci stores.
