As we ease into our new reality, fashion brands are also adjusting to challenges posed by the pandemic. If all were well we would have been in Paris right now where Hermès’ Spring Summer 2021 menswear collections are being presented, but we aren’t. The next best option? A digital experience that can be accessed by everyone. This evening, Hermès will be presenting their SS21 menswear collection designed by Creative Director of menswear Véronique Nichanian.
Previous Hermès menswear shows have been rather intimate and elegant affairs, eschewing theatrics and relying on atmosphere to give the clothes meaning and depth, like last summer’s menswear presentation held in the breezy courtyard of Mobilier National where guests were invited to take in the show seated on an eclectic selection of chairs spanning various decades and styles, much like the collection which went from billowy chino pants and easy sorbet hued oxford shirts to languid silk printed blazers at the end.
How this evening’s presentation plays out is anyone’s guess, but we’ve got our curiosity piqued as Nichanian has roped in director Cyril Teste for a performance piece. Check back at 8 pm to see it all come together from the comfort of your own home.
