It goes without saying that the obvious inspiration for this season’s collection comes from the Land of the Rising Sun. Giorgio Armani’s distinctive play on the traditional kimonos and haori jackets adds to the collection’s standing collection of fitted Western suits, alongside culottes and cargo pants with detachable skirting mirrored after the Hakama. Statement prints of cherry blossoms, calligraphy and art that scream of the Oriental land shimmer upon fabrics of silk in celebratory colours of red and gold, blending seamlessly with Armani’s signature dark blue palette, providing an overall elegant yet relaxed dialogue between the seams.
