The Different Faces Of Terre d’Hermès
The three Terre d’Hermes fragrances – Terre d’Hermès EDT, Terre d’Hermès Parfum and Terre d’Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver – have spruced up their look this season. The limited edition flaçons now feature illustrations by German designer, Tilman Bartl.
He furnished the bottles with his artistic depiction of plots of land from a top view, an attempt to poetically pay tribute to Earth while conveying the message of “strength and emotion emanating from the soil”. While like the clean and sleek finish of the original flaçons, we also appreciate how easily the elegant designs on these limited edition bottles add life to our dresser.
Aside from the update, we will also share our views on the three similar yet distinctively different versions of Terre d’Hermès. You could consider them for gifting this Christmas, or even as a treat for yourself. After all, there’s no better way to face the new year than in good taste.

Terre d’Hermès EDT, Parfum and Eau Intense Vetiver are available at Hermès boutiques, counters and online.
Terre d'Hermès Parfum
Launched in: 2009
In Terre d'Hermès Parfum, the sprightly scent of the original eau de toilette is present but plays more of a supporting role by lingering in the background.
The fragrance takes the original bright notes of grapefruit and orange, and is given a sophisticated spin with a good dose of woody notes from oak and cedar. Hints of flint and shiso give the scent a fresh and mineral-like quality, that blends seamlessly with your body's natural scent.
It is sensual and charming. And you can be sure that we won't leave home for a date without a spritz or two of this number.
Key notes: Citrus (Orange and grapefruit), flint, shiso leaf, oak, benzoin and cedar
Nose: Jean-Claude Ellena
Most suitable for: Romantic date nights with the missus at venues like La Dame de Pic or The Black Swan.
Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver
Launched in: 2018
If Terre d'Hermès eau de toilette is the promising new kid in an established hedge fund firm, this one is someone on the firm's board of directors.
What takes centre stage in this formula is the grassy note of vetiver, complemented beautifully with the spicy and woody touches of pink pepper and amberwood. Together, they give the scent "weight", which makes it perfect if you want to turn heads and be taken seriously. The blend of geranium and olibanum lurks around the edges, softening the scent with their unexpected hints of sweetness, thus making this formulation a unique one.
Be warned though - the scent is heavy, so spritz sparingly.
Key notes: Citrus (Bergamot, grapefruit and lemon), vetiver, geranium, pink pepper, amberwood and olibanum
Nose: Christine Nagel
Most suitable for: Important events like business presentations and meals with clients at Odette or Artemis & Grill.
Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette
Launched in: 2006
There are many reasons why the original Terre d'Hermès remains a crowd pleaser since its release in 2006. The fragrance is welcoming and it owes its bright and effervescent quality to the blend of orange and grapefruit notes that last throughout its use.
Unlike many other fragrances that use the citrus as a main ingredient, this one offers a sophisticated and masculine edge with the use of woods and spices. The hints of patchouli and pelargonium (a flower that's in the same family as geranium) lend an intoxicating sweetness that complements rather than oppose the dryness of the woods and spices.
As far as daytime scents go, this one stands out as it is luxurious and elegant without being boastful.
Key notes: Citrus (Orange and grapefruit), pelargonium, pepper, patchouli, cedar wood
Nose: Jean-Claude Ellena
Most suitable for: The office, and daytime activities like brunch at Dempsey or visiting art galleries.
