2017 spelled a year of resurgence in some sense for Zenith. Under the early leadership of Jean-Claude Biver and the subsequent appointment of Julien Tornare as CEO of the brand, Zenith’s trajectory over the next few years should be something watch collectors keep an eye on.

One of our favourite releases of the year was the new Defy El Primero 21, a master chronograph with precision of up to 1/100th of a second. Add to that an entire escapement dedicated to the chronograph function separate from the timekeeping one and you’ve got a watch well worth talking about.

Watch the video to see the watch in action.

EDIT: The variant Defy El Primero 21 (in black) case is made in ceramic, not ceramicised aluminium. We apologise for the error.
