Axor has unveiled its new Axor Edge collection of premium bathroom fittings. Conceived by French designer Jean-Marie Massaud, which the brand first worked with in 2006, the Axor Edge collection is available for the washbasin, bathtub, bidet, and with thermostat modules for the shower.
Like the other Axor products that you should be familiar with by now, the new Axor Edge collection is a combination of refined designs and the expertise in ultraprecise manufacturing necessary to bring them to life. Here, cubes are juxtaposed asymmetrically to create a mixture of edges and plains, almost like an ultramodern reinterpretation of Art Deco’s design language. The results are stunning, thanks to the manufacturing technologies employed by Axor. These include diamond-tipped tools that are used for machining the various components at extremely low tolerances, as well as physical vapour deposition (PVD) chambers used to give them different finishes.
Of course, true luxury is personal. To that end, the products in the line are available for personalisation in various ways. For a start, four Axor FinishPlus surfaces ranging from Polished Gold-Optic to Polished Black Chrome are available to suit different bathroom designs. Each fitting can also be partially finished with a subtle texture to lend it a touch of visual and haptic interest – or come without it for minimalistic chic.
On his latest work with Axor, Massaud opined, “In my collaboration with Axor, we always seek to provide a better user experience. With Axor Edge, we have answered the demand for refinement and uniqueness to make a sculpture out of an everyday object. More than a faucet, each product in the collection is a jewel, a masterpiece, a unique architectural object drilled from a brass block and then dressed with personal finishes. A real functional piece of art that shares your intimacy for life – that’s my understanding of luxury.”
